Brian Hackett
Brian Hackett grew up in the small town of Horseheads in upstate New York. After graduating from Binghamton University, he spent six years in the Navy, which included an eight-month deployment during the Gulf War as the food service officer onboard a naval hospital ship. Later in the 1990s, he moved to Naples, Italy, to work as a civilian manager for the Navy, and experienced the distinct culture and chaotic environment that has provided Naples its legendary reputation. At the same time, he fell in love with the city’s vivacity and the incredible beauty of the region. It is from that rich experience that Brian drew inspiration for his debut novel, Leaving Naples.
